Michael Jackson Was Muslim

June 27, 2009

Asalamu Alaikum

Only Allah knows our end. All sins are forgiven except shirk, fear Allah’s punishment while hoping for His mercy. Always thank Allah, beg His forgiveness and ask Him for janat al-firdaws, safety from the hellfire and punishment of the grave. In the evening, don’t expect to arrive to the morning and in the morning don’t expect to make it to the evening. May Allah forgive us and grant us a good end while He is pleased with us, we die with the kalimah on our lips and the angels of mercy take our souls ameen.

June 28, 2009: I have taken down the article on Michael Jackson’s reversion to Islam by the Sun because it was inaccurate. I hope the Jackson family, especially Jermaine, will release a statement that Michael was indeed a Muslim. I also hope that he gets a proper Muslim burial insha’Allah.

July 18, 2009: A friend sent me a link stating that Michael Jackson will be given a Muslim burial wallahu alim…

FiAmanAllah, Tara Umm Omar

Imam Zaid Shakir has now amended his original article: An earlier version of this article mentioned that Dawud Warnsby had assisted in Michael Jackson’s conversion to Islam. He has denied that. This article has been amended to exclude that claim. In writing this essay, I was given information from sources I considered reliable that Michael had indeed become Muslim. Obviously, the part about Dawud Warnsby is not true. However, there have been many reports throughout the media concerning Michael becoming Muslim. Allah knows best as to their veracity. Imam Johari Abdul Malik: Imam Visits Michael Jackson’s Family to Discuss Funeral Arrangements

UPDATE: Many have asked concerning the below. I heard the report on CNN’s Wolf Blitzer’s show “The Situation Room”. He briefly mentioned it during the coverage of Michael Jackson.

Al-Hamdulillah, CNN reported that the Jackson family is meeting with an imam to make the funeral arrangements for the janazah (Muslim funeral prayer) for Michael Jackson. I pray that Allah will have mercy on his soul and grant the family some privacy as they make the plans for a Muslim funeral. I ask Muslims to reserve their judgement and pray for him and his family. Please send your condolences: http://www.legacy.com/gb2/default.aspx?bookid=5875644172354 .

I pray that Muslims will respond to this loss our brother in every loving way possible. I do not know when and were the prayers will be. I trust that the masjid that Jermaine Jackson attends will handle the prayers and preparation. The West Coast Muslims in LA and Imam Zaid Shaker or Sheikh Hamza are hopefully in the loop? May Allah help them. We have not had a major figure in the pop world pass away before Micheal Jackson. I pray that we will do our best and that Allah will have mercy.show

Islamic Mosque On The Prairie

June 25, 2009

Asalamu Alaikum

A show like this is needed in America! Proves to me that Canadians are way more open-minded than Americans when it comes to Muslims.

FiAmanAllah, Tara Umm Omar

ISLAMIC MOSQUE ON THE PRAIRIE

By Nazi (Canadian Hijabi)

Today I wanted to talk about something else rather than hijab. There is a show going on in Canada named as “Little Mosque on the Prairie”. Little Mosque on the Prairie is a sitcom that focuses on the comedic outlook of a small Muslim community interacting with the citizens of a little prairie town named Mercy.

The sitcom reveals that although we are different in ethnicity and in skin color, we are all surprisingly similar when it comes to family, love, the generation gaps, and our attempts to balance our secular and religious lives while trying to understand those of others in the community. The sitcom is very popular in Canada & it is trying to really give a positive outlook towards Muslims. The sitcom also talks about the misconceptions about Islam.

If you want to follow the show you can always watch it on CBC or may be you can follow it on YouTube. Enjoy!!!

Turtle Island: Native American Muslims

June 3, 2009

Introducing Native American Muslims Of Turtle Island

TI_Muslims-owner@yahoogroups.com

We are a group of Turtle Island Muslims and we are looking for a better understanding between us and the First People in US and Canada rather than allowing ourselves to be part of a conflict made by people with intrest to create such a conflict between Natives in US and Canada and billions of Muslims worldwide.

According to Native traditional ways the earth is in a cycle with four colors of man affecting each other and should therefore live in harmony for everyone’s benefit. In light of that we suggest Natives in US and Canada get information from us Turtle Island Muslims about us Muslims, rather than from those who have an intrest in misrepresenting us and creating conflict. Here are the basic things about us:

We believe in One Creator and we accept all Creator’s Prophets like Adam, Noah, Abraham, including Prophet Muhammad, Blessings and Peace be upon him – Salallahu aleyhi wa Sallam.

Prophet Muhammad, Blessings and Peace be upon him – Salallahu aleyhi wa Sallam, brought us two things to learn from, Words from the Creator called the Qur’an which means reading in Arabic and a way to follow called Sunnah in Arabic.

We believe the Qur’an to be from the Creator because it says so and none of the wording can be restructured in any way from the original Arabic that it is in. Not a single word or phrase can be removed or rearranged or put into the Qur’an. Any change to the original arabic wording of the Qur’an shows as a structural error and the wording has to be left as is. Clearly it is not manmade and it has stayed that way since it was brought over 1400 years ago by Prophet Muhammad, Blessings and Peace be upon him – Salallahu aleyhi wa Sallam.

The Qur’an and Sunnah mention everything necessary for a person to live in harmony with the rest of creation and Say that as a reward the person secures a good place with the Creator.

The one and only prerequisite to be Muslim is to acknowledge that there is a Creator and that there are Prophets including Prophet Muhammad, Blessings and Peace be upon him – Salallahu aleyhi wa Sallam.

We Turtle Island Muslims hope that this will clear up any misunderstandings and eliviate any conflicts between Natives in US and Canada and billions of Muslims worldwide.

Turtle Island Muslims On Facebook

The only FB group by the American Indian / Native Americans / First Nations Muslims of Turtle Island, about them and for them.

This is your oppurtunity to meet with and network with the Muslim Natives of Turtle Island… to learn about them… to assist them in their da’wah efforts, which is virtually non-existant… until now, inshaa Allaah, and to really be one united ummah where the Messenger of Allaah (Peace be upon him) said, “The example of the Believer in their mutual love and mercy is like the example of a body, if one part of the body feels pain, then all the body suffers in sleeplessness and fever.” (Bukhari Muslim)

Native Americans are marginalized in their own homeland and it is a shame that Muslims come to this country and share in the benefits from it’s native peoples being occupied and oppressed, and the Muslims find no way to help the American Indian / Native American / First Nation in their situations or to even make the da’wah to them to Islam? Do you think Allaah want ask us about that… a duty we must fulfill?

This is your chance inshaa Allaah for the native Muslims to come together and work together upon birr and taqwaa, and for the non-native Muslims to learn about us, and assist us upon birr and taqwaa, inshaa Allaah.

If you come here to impose your steriotypes upon us or to “play Indian”, don’t even bother.

This is what we are about inshaa Allaah ta ‘ala

Don’t break the law and think in terms of your mamma will see what you write here.

A Hijama Experience From Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

June 3, 2009

A Hijama Experience From Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

By Tara Umm Omar
Interview by Shuaib Suria of Ahealth

This is a guest-post in the form of a written interview with Tara Umm Omar, a hijama patient in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

- What condition did you suffer from?
I experienced recurrent pain in the small of my back.

- Where do you live and where did you go for the hijama therapy?
I live in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. My friend cupped me in the privacy of her home.

- What did the treatment involve?
She cupped me in 9 hijama points: 1, 4, 5, 9, 10, 20, 21, 22, and 23.

- What was the result?

There was a point when I think my iron got low because I felt nauseous and as if I would faint. My friend stopped and reminded me to recite the Shahada, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah An-Nas, Surah Al-Falaq, Ayat Al-Kursi, the last 2 ayat of surah Al-Baqarah. I started to feel better immediately and this confirmed the healing power of the above soorat and ayat alhamdulillah. The next day I was energetic and have not experienced back pain until recently. The time between hijama and the returning pain was a little more than one month. However its not as painful as it was before and not continuous.

- What was your overall impression of the therapist and her practice?
I was satisfied with the way my friend conducted herself throughout the procedure. She was always attentive to my needs, often asking me how I was. My cuts healed nicely within a week masha’Allah.

- How did your friend get to learn hijama therapy (was it a course she attended or was it something handed down from generation to generation in her family)?
She attended a course and learned from her mother and aunt.

- How long has your friend been practicing this therapy, and is it a service she provides to all who need it or is it only for family and friends?
She practiced a long time ago in Jakarta, Indonesia but only for those who needed and believed in hijamah. She only performs it upon her family and friends.

- How long did the treatment last and how much did it cost?
Two hours. My friend refused to take money even after I insisted because she did it feesabillah.

- Overall impression of the therapy?
I loved it and my only regrets is that I had waited so long to get it done. I can’t wait until I get cupped again insha’Allah.

The last two questions have been answered by three people as I am only a recent patient in hijama therapy and wouldn’t be able to provide details…

- What is the overall prevalance of hijama therapy in Saudi Arabia? Is it available in hospitals and clinics as a valid alternative / sunnah therapy or is the official government policy to try and ban it (you sometimes hear conflicting reports!)?

- If you know of any clinics / hospitals that provide hijama therapy in Saudi Arabia (and particularly Makkah and Madina), then where would you recommend people to go for this therapy, especially when they go to perform Umrah?

Fatima Jada:
As far as I am concerned, there are special clinics for hijama. My mum and sister went to a hijama clinic in Makkah recently and alhamdulillah were very satisfied with the treatment. They compared the clinic to most international clinics with modern medical equipment accompanied by a clean sanitary environment. I don’t think the government would ban such an important Islamic therapy approved in the Sunnah. I know of clinics in Makkah, Madina and the Qaseem area and would recommend it to anyone interested in trying this alternative therapy, insha allah.

Labeebah Sabree:
There are several clinics in Saudi Arabia in Riyadh that provide Hijama and it is considered a valid and recommended medical practice. I am sure there are clinics that provide this service in Makkah and Madina but it is not recommended to do it while performing Hajj or Umrah since bleeding would invalidate their ihram (state of purification). They would only do this after performing their rituals outside of Hajj or Umrah as it is too busy during these times.

Hanan Umm Ahmed: I know that some people do it out of their homes or yes there are some clinics which offer this. As far as clinics or government trying to get rid of this, well, I doubt that as it’s a known sunnah of the Prophet. I have not heard anything about this however I do know that many regular doctors who are brought up in the traditional medicine theory do not open up for such ideas.
